Sargeant, MN (KROC AM News) - A man died in a fiery traffic wreck in rural Mower County Friday.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the 33000 block of 670th Ave in rural Sargeant at 3:30 PM to check a report "of a one vehicle accident with a male trapped inside unconscious, and the vehicle was on fire. “

The person who called said the vehicle the man was driving had hit a bridge and “the fire was rapidly spreading.”

Deputies arrived to find “the SUV was fully engulfed and the lone occupant clearly appeared to be deceased. The fire was too hot to safely approach the vehicle.”

The sheriff’s office says “ One unidentifiable body was recovered from the vehicle, and transported to the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. No further information is available at this time pending autopsy results, further investigation, and family notification.”
