Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Mayo Clinic is giving its employees and the local economy a big boost.

The health care giant's employees were notified in a letter today that each full and part-time allied health staff and staff in several other employee groups will be receiving a lump-sum payment of $1000 on October 23rd. Mayo Clinic employees who lost pay through the wage reductions that were ordered earlier this year to help the Mayo Clinic weather the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will also be repaid for 8 weeks of lowered wages through an additional lump sum payment.

The letter notes that top administrators, consultants, and supplemental staff are not eligible to receive the $1000 payments.

The Mayo Clinic previously rescinded the wage reductions and began canceling furloughs after its financial outlook improved much quicker than predicted this summer. Mayo also benefited from an infusion of cash from the federal CARES Act that helped it post a net operating income of $154 million in the second quarter of this year.
