Mayo Scores First Ever Consecutive Top Ranking
Undated (KROC AM News) - A first for Mayo Clinic.
The Rochester-based mega-health care provider is at the top of the list in this year’s ranking of the best hospitals in the country by US News and World Report. Mayo was also ranked #1 last year. This is the first time Mayo has had the top ranking in back-to-back years. Cleveland Clinic was ranked second this year followed by Johns Hopkins.
And the report has more good news for Mayo. It was ranked tops in six specialty areas:
Diabetes and endocrinology
Gastroenterology (GI) and GI surgery
Geriatrics
Gynecology
Nephrology
Neurology and neurosurgery
The report gives Mayo more top rankings than any other provider based on factors that include reputation, mortality index, patient safety, nurse staffing and Magnet status, patient services, and technology.
“Mayo Clinic is consistently top ranked nationwide more often than any other hospital because of the thousands of people here who shared a vision,” says John Noseworthy, M.D., president and CEO, Mayo Clinic. “Our physicians, scientists, researchers, educators and allied health staff bring their expertise to focus on the individual needs of each patient.”
