Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede is being recognized by his high school.

The Austin High School Alumni and Friends Association has announced Mayor Brede is one of the two recipients of the organization’s 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award. It recognizes graduates of Austin High School for outstanding achievements and contributions to society following graduation.

Brede, who is a member of the Austin High School Class of 1957, worked as an administrator at Rochester Methodist Hospital and the Mayo Clinic before he was elected as Mayor of Rochester in 2003.

He is scheduled to be presented with the award during a ceremony at Austin High School on October 6th.
