St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - A member of Governor Tim Walz's cabinet says an announcement is coming tomorrow concerning phased plans for reopening bars, restaurants, and other places of public accommodation.

State Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Steve Grove issued a tweet today confirming speculation that Governor Walz would be discussing the issue at the daily COVID-19 briefing Wednesday afternoon. Grove says the key public health factors considered for reopening decisions are: how close you are to another person, how long you are in close proximity to another person, and how predictable the setting is regarding maintaining social distancing.

Governor Walz earlier indicated he was considering allowing a partial reopening of bars and restaurants on June 1st.
