From the sounds of it, the best running back in Minnesota Vikings history will play the season opener in U.S Bank Stadium, but on the other sideline. Oh, and in front of a national audience on ESPN during Monday Night Football.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Peterson is expected to sign a deal with the New Orleans Saints.

Other Minnesota media members were in on the news, too.

The deal is not official yet, but it Rapoport is tweeting about it, you better believe it is going to be official soon. The $3 million is much less than what Peterson was looking for, but he must have gotten a rude awaking of his worth on the free agent market.

Peterson was undoubtedly one of the best running backs in NFL for a number of years, but he i snow taking his talents to south Louisiana, where he will be apart of a very dynamic offense that is led by their quarterback in Drew Brees.

The big deal here is, how juicy of a story is this going to be? Last Thursday it was released that the Vikings would be opening their season against the Saints, and now maybe one of the most prolific players in franchise history will be representing the Saints.

It is pretty interesting stuff, and I'm sure we will have some comments very soon from Peterson talking about the Vikings.

Another interesting note? The Saints defeated the Vikings in the NFC Championship game in 2010, and Peterson had a couple of costly fumbles that led the way for the Saints to win the game. I'm not saying conspiracy, but it is certainly interesting.
