Rochester Man Loses Eye During Violent Assault by Son
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester teenager was arrested on a felony assault charge after a brutal attack that left the victim without one of his eyes.
The victim was the teen’s father.
RPD Lt. Gretchen O’Neil says officers were called to the Square on 31st apartments complex around 2:30 PM Friday to check a report of a fight inside one of the units. The unit was locked but the manager was able to open the door and the officers saw the teenager straddling the victim on the floor. Officers subdued the teenager and called for an ambulance.
O’Neil says the officers discovered the man’s left eye was missing and some of his teeth were on the floor. O’Neil says as of Sunday morning, the victim was still in the hospital.
Arrested was 18-year-old Mahad Aziz.
O'Neil says investigators were not able to get a statement from Aziz or his father.
She says it did not appear the teenager was under the influence of drugs or alcohol and that no weapon was used in the assault.
