Rochester’s Police, Fire Chiefs Take Oath Monday
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Although both are already on the job, a swearing-in ceremony has been scheduled Monday for Rochester’s police and fire chiefs.
The event will be held at the Mayo Civic Center and is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM. It is open to the public.
Police Chief Jim Franklin began his new job last Thursday, officially ending a long process to succeed longtime chief Roger Peterson. He became just the fourth police chief in Rochester in nearly 70 years. Franklin had been working with the Metropolitan Transit Police Dept. in Minneapolis before being named Rochester’s chief.
Eric Kerska officially became the city’s new fire chief June 30th. He started his career as a Rochester firefighter in 1994 and rose to the rank of battalion chief before being appointed chief.
Officials say this will be the first time in city history both chiefs will take the oath of office at the same time.
