Storms Result in Flood Advisories and Warnings in SE Minnesota and West Wisconsin

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A flood advisory was posted for portions of southeastern Minnesota Saturday afternoon and a flash flood warning has been posted in the La Crosse area.

The advisory, which included Olmsted County and portions of Wabasha and Winona Counties, was issued through 4 PM due to the heavy rains that moved across the region in the early afternoon. Street flooding was reported in parts of Winona and Goodview around 1:30 PM. The flash flood warnings cover areas of western Wisconsin in the La Crosse and areas to the east where the storms have produced 2 to 5 inches of rain.

The National Weather Service is reporting .65 inches of rain has fallen at the Rochester Airport since around 7 o'clock Saturday morning, while only about 2-tenths of an inch has been recorded at the Mayo One helipad at St. Mary's Hospital. The storm reports to the National Weather Service include a brief period where quarter-size hail fell in an area north of Rochester near Douglas.

The forecast for tonight and tomorrow includes the possibility of additional rain and thunderstorms. The highest risk for thunderstorm development is after midnight and the National Weather Service is saying between a half and 3-quarters of an inch of rain is possible by Sunday morning.
