Three More Join Rochester’s 100 MPH Club; One Clocked At 121 MPH
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Court records show three more motorists have been caught driving over 100 mph in the Rochester area.
And one of the newcomers to the 100 mph club was clocked at 121 mph.
That’s the highest reported violation in the Rochester area since 2019 when a teenager was caught speeding near Century High School at 130 mph.
According to the report, 21-year-old Justin Rudquist of Rochester was driving on 60th Ave NW just west of Rochester around 8:00 pm last Saturday when he was pulled over by an Olmsted County deputy. The speed limit in that area is 55 mph. He was cited for speeding and careless driving.
An Austin teenager was caught about the same time driving 104 mph on I-90 in rural Olmsted County. 19-year-old Lukas Howard was given a speeding ticket and a warning for careless driving.
The third incident involved an older Lake City man who was stopped by a state trooper on Highway 52 in northwest Rochester last Wednesday morning. The trooper clocked 73-year-old Leslie Buske driving his 2014 Corvette at 103 mph.
Here is the trooper citation:
I WAS SB AHEAD OF HIM AND SAWHIM FLYING BY EVERYONE IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE. I MOVED TO #2 LANE AND HE SPED RIGHT PAST ME. DLS HE WAS ON HIS WAY TO TRADE HIS CAR IN AT CLEMENTS. HE SAID HE WAS IN THE #3 LANE AND A VEHICLE CAME FLYING UP BEHIND HIM AND HE DIDN'T WANT TO GET HIT SO HE MOVED TO THE #4 LANE TO GET AWAY. WHEN I SAW HIM HE WAS MAINTAINING HIS SPEED FOR AT LEAST THAT TIME FRAME. IF THAT TRULY WAS WHAT HAPPENED HE COULD'VE MOVED TO THE #4 LANE W/O SPEEDING UP. HE ASKED FOR AWARNING. I TOLD HIM HE WOULD GET REVOKED IF CONVICTED OF 100OR MORE AND THAT HE COULD ASK THE JUDGE OR PROSECUTOR IF A DEAL COULD BE MADE FOR 99 BUT DID NOT MAKE ANY PROMISES TO HIM
Another Minnesota motorist was caught speeding Wednesday. Not just once, not twice, but three times.
News update: Minnesota's two largest cities are keeping their face mask mandates in effect for now.
