Truck-to-Trunk Food Distribution in Owatonna Thursday
Community Pathways of Steele County welcomes families in need to a truck-to-trunk food distribution on Thursday, February 18 at the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna. No registration is needed. Simply drive up. Enter off 18th Street SE and follow the directions.
The event begins at 9:30 am. Officials stress it's not necessary to arrive before the scheduled start time as a semi-truck full of prepackaged boxes of food will be plenty for everyone. Vehicles are limited to collecting food for two households.
The boxes will contain perishables, such as meat, dairy and produce. Distribution should continue through 3 pm. This is the fourth such event held in Owatonna since the pandemic began.
Community Pathways also announces the start of the "Building New Pathways" campaign. Outreach and Grant Director Andi Arnold joined AM 1390 KRFO's Talk of the Town program this week to announce a virtual gala event in support of the effort. The gala is Friday, March 5 at 7 pm and will feature some of the same musical artists that have been part of the Hometown Sampler in the past.
A trio of prizes will be drawn for, a Trek e-bike, Traeger grill, and Power Block home gym. Find out more at the Community Pathways Facebook Page.
A Gala-in-a-Box is available with a bottle of Prosecco, custom wine glasses, assorted treats and other items. Go to Community Pathways website for more details. An online auction will go live at 12 pm on Wednesday, March 3.
Arnold said the "Building New Pathways" campaign will expand their facility in Owatonna to include Steele County Transitional Housing and Let's Smile. The food shelf and Steele County Clothesline came together about a year ago to form Community Pathways.
ALERT: Owatonna Public Utilities is asking natural gas customers, both resident and business, to reduce gas usage through this Thursday, February 18 in order to keep utility bills from rising too much.
