The Caledonia Warriors were in a physical and intense game throughout the Class AA State Championship contest and came up just short. The Warriors fell to the #3 seed Minnehaha Academy Redhawks 72-63.

The Warriors and Redhawks were traded blow back and forth throughout the entire game with physical play and some great shot-making that ended up sealing the deal for Minnehaha Academy.

With just over five minutes to go, Tanna Gallo hit a 3 for Minnehaha Academy to get a 56-55 lead, and the Redhawks never looked back.

The Warriors again got great play from their seniors. Katie Tornstrom was a force all over the floor with 19 points and 16 rebounds, while Ashley Schroeder added 21 points while going 11-of-11 from the free throw line. Kaitlin Conniff was great in the game, too, going 10-of-10 from the stripe and finishing with 16 points.

The Redhawks were led by Senior Taytum Rhoades who finished with 29 points in the game and was their go-to-player down the stretch. Mia Curtis added 18 points, all from beyond the arc, to help pace Minnehaha Academy's offense. Rhoades scored six points in the final minute to help the Redhawks secure the win.

The Warriors were looking for their first state championship since 2009. They were also runner-up in 1998.

Tornstrom, Schroeder and Heidi Bolduan were all named to the All-Tournament Team, as the Warriors wrapped up another great season with some great basketball. They were a very fun team to watch.
