Brainerd, MN (KROC AM News) -  The long holiday weekend is off to a deadly start on Minnesota roads.

At least three people were killed in traffic wrecks on Thanksgiving Day. Both happened around 6:30 pm.

Two people were killed in a wreck that occurred in rural Crow Wing County. The State Patrol says the victims were in a car that crossed the centerline of Highway 210 in Oak Lane Township near the Brainerd airport and collided head-on with a pickup truck. The car was driven by 19-year-old Katrina Lipp of Brainerd. She died at the scene as did her passenger, 21-year-old Tiffanie Rivera of Blackduck. The truck was driven by 74-year-old Robert Heggerston of Walnut Grove. He and his 74-year-old wife Jeanette were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A Woodbury woman was killed in the other deadly wreck. The State Patrol says 51-year-old Jessica Jackson was trying to turn onto Highway 61 in Cottage Grove when her car was hit broadside by an oncoming car. Jackson died at the scene. The SUV was driven by 19-year-old Lucas Hobbs of Eagan. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in a wide police chase in the Twin Cities late Wednesday night:
