Dover Man With History Of Violent Assaults Sentenced To Prison
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A man who recently assaulted an Olmsted County detention deputy while awaiting sentencing for two earlier assault cases has been given a short prison sentence.
Sentenced Wednesday was 32-year-old Joseph Martin of Dover.
Martin was sentenced to a total of 28 months for both felony convictions. His actual time will be less than that as he was also given credit for the 8 months he has spent in jail since his arrest.
He pleaded guilty earlier to two assault cases as part of a plea agreement that led to the dismissal of a 3rd assault case.

All three cases took place in 2021.
In one of the cases, he knocked out two men at a bar in Dover
The other case involved his girlfriend.
The third assault took place at the local Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge site
Martin’s record also includes a 2019 attack on another inmate at a state prison where he was serving time for physically and sexually assaulting his girlfriend.
Martin’s case involving the detention deputy is pending.
