Go Buy a Box of Tampons and Help These 3 Rochester High Schoolers Do Some Good
If you've been avoiding the feminine hygiene aisle at the store because it is just too embarrassing, a few high schoolers in Rochester, Minnesota are asking you to be brave and go buy a box of tampons. If that is a bit too much for you and will cause you to blush...socks will work too. A few embarrassing moments are worth it though because this is all for the upcoming Her Drive in Rochester, where items specifically for women are being collected to help those in need throughout our community.
Reese Rutherford, Calleah Nelson, and Madilyn Salveson are all students at John Marshall High School in Rochester, Minnesota and they are coordinating the Her Drive this month and part of February. Reese shared a few more details with me as we went live on Instagram - watch it here.
The items that they are collecting for the Her Drive are:
- New and/or lightly used bras and bralettes
- Sports bras
- Bikini tops
- Menstrual Pads
- Pantiliners
- Tampons
- Period underwear
- Diva cups
- Travel-size toiletries
- Hair products for natural hair
- Hand sanitizer/sanitary wipes
- Vanity products (new makeup, nail polish, beauty supplies, hair accessories)

How to donate: The students will be collecting items on January 18th, 24th, 31st, and February 7th and 14th. You can leave your items on your front step, by your garage or wherever it works best at your house. Just fill out the Donor Interest Form here and indicate your address, the day of pickup you prefer, and where the items will be located.
