NFL Draft is Like Christmas for Owatonna Vikings Fan
Minnesota Vikings enthusiast Todd Walkingstick of Owatonna likens the NFL draft to Christmastime and says, "I hope the Vikings get a great present for me."
Minnesota enters Thursday, the opening day of the draft, without a first-round selection. Walkingstick would not be surprised if Minnesota makes a move into the first round. He says getting help on the offensive line is paramount for the team. Todd and his wife celebrate their 16th anniversary Friday. He says many years they celebrate the day at the Vikings draft party. He and his wife almost never miss a home Vikings game.
Regarding former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson signing with New Orleans, who open the season at U.S. Bank Stadium on Monday, September 11, Walkingstick wonders how Peterson's style will play out for the pass-happy Saints. He is just happy that the former All-Pro didn't end up with the Packers.
Minnesota plays a home-heavy schedule early in the season. "You got to take control of your home," Walkingstick says.
Walkingstick posts local sports interviews with his program Beyond the Game through Owatonnalive.com. The April 27 presentation features OHS trap shooting coach Dave Schroeder, former Huskies lacrosse player Dani Summer and OHS senior Carter Broton.
